It doesn't get any better than that. Fully lit the whole time with my 5.7m
and 85ltr wave board. Plenty of power to blast upwind through the waves and
launch into some pretty big jumps. Not my favourite direction for jumping
but sometimes you just have to go for it. I really should sort out my
landings though as they are just too flat and my knees buckle with the
impact!
After the waves it would be some full on blasting over the rolling swell
past the Manx Shearwaters and out to the buoy line. Then a flat out gybe on
a piece of swell before heading upwind for a little while maxed out and
then back into the waves for some nice backside wave-riding. Managed a few
aerials of the lip and some nice gougin carves into the whitewater, all
followed by a smooth gybe on the inside and back out to do it all over
again.
Could have managed with a 5.0m much of the time but the 5.7m and 85ltr
board were just perfect and the extra power was more fun and allowed me to
get out of toruble when needed.
Perfect.
Alistair was out as well but seemed to be struggling for some reason. He
changed down from his 100ltr board to an 85ltr board as I was packing up
though and seemed to be doing better on that as I left the beach.
